Silent Day of Mindfulness @ RZS
Sep 21 @ 10:30 – 15:30

In close to 100 countries, kids have been going on school strikes to
call attention to the need to slow down climate change. We adults wish
to honour their lead and take responsibility for changing our habits and
call on our governments to lead us in the necessary changes. We will
practice slowing down and simplifying our lives to help create the
conditions for living happily with less use of natural resources.

This Day of Mindfulness is dedicated to this cause. At 12 midday we will
invite a bell, at the same time as many others (churches etc) in many
countries. This is to send our loving energy to the preparations for the
climate summit starting 23rd September. May those who gather for the
summit have the wisdom, compassion, and clarity of action to lead us to
collective right action.

This Day of Mindful Silence, we will learn and then practice simple
activities designed to help
us keep a relaxed focus of the body-mind. After learning a set of
practices, each of us will alternate
between them according to our need in the moment, while together
creating a serene atmosphere.
The room will be organised to help minimise movement in the area where
we do the sitting.

The style of practice is similar to that taught by monk Thay Doji.
Therefore, this day can be regarded
as a “taster” of the practice which Thay Doji will guide us in more
thoroughly in February.

Please bring:
-Comfortable clothes. Also, if you have a favourite cushion do bring it.
We do have benches, cushions,
chairs, mats and blankets for everyone.
-Money for a donation (suggested 100-150kr) or Vipps
– Vegetarian food to share for lunch that does not need to be heated (no oven available). If you need to only eat your own because of allergies etc., please let
the organisers know when you arrive. Plates, cutlary, etc. available.

Please ensure you arrive in good time before 10.30, say 10.15 and 10.20, so that all can settle in, find space in the (small) fridge,
etc.

English speakers who do not comfortably understand Norwegian are
requested to let us know
beforehand, if you can, so we can prepare for bilingual instruction.
However, you are also welcome
on the day. There is no registration as such.

We the organisers look forward to practicing together, silently
supporting each other and enjoying
being with ourselves, with others.

Please be there before 10:30, so around 10:15 to let everyone settle and get ready.

Price: 100-200,- Vipps: (#128440 Drivende skyer), or Dharmagruppa bank account: 1254.05.03026, with “silent day”.

FREE ONLINE SUMMIT 23rd-28th March
Mar 25 @ 14:00 – Mar 29 @ 23:59

*You’re invited to join our community for a free 5-day online summit
with nine senior Plum Village teachers, hosted by the Thich Nhat Hanh
Foundation in partnership with Lion’s Roar.*

We hope this message finds you safe and well during this time of
uncertainty. Knowing you are there, as a member of our beloved
community, fills us with true happiness.

And we want to be there for you as well. If you can’t come to Plum
Village, Plum Village will come to you. To help you stay grounded as our
lives and communities reorganize. We hope to give you a renewed sense of
ease, so that in the midst of uncertainty, you will have a gentle smile
on your face, and in the midst of isolation, you will remember that we
inter-are.

Thay has touched the hearts of millions with his message of peace,
non-violence, and kindness. From difficult beginnings as a Vietnamese
monk forced into a life of exile, he has been instrumental in making
Buddhism relevant for modern times.

Join us from March 25-29 to experience Thay’s legacy with teachings,
meditations, and practices offered by nine senior Dharma teachers he has
trained directly. Including Sister Chan Duc, Brother Phap Hai, Brother
Phap Dung, Sister Dang Nghiem, Brother Phap Luu, Anh-Huong Nguyen,
Shantum Seth, Larry Ward, and Peggy Rowe-Ward, this summit is a rare
opportunity to connect deeply with the heart and home of our living Plum
Village tradition and community.
